Southern Maryland Hospital Center Announces Smoke-Free Campus

Clinton, MD  - In response to the need to promote a healthy environment, Southern Maryland Hospital Center (SMHC) has announced that effective August 21, 2006, the entire campus, including hospital, professional buildings, and parking lots will become smoke-free.  As the leading cardiovascular provider in the Southern Maryland region, SMHC is actively promoting this new Smoke-Free policy to employees, visitors, and patients.  While SMHC has a strict smoking policy currently in effect, this new policy will positively contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment, as well as improve the quality of life for many individuals.

 

To assist in helping individuals stop smoking, SMHC offers smoking cessation classes, cardiac risk assessments, cardiac risk reduction programs, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, and community health screenings.  To find out more about these valuable programs, please contact SMHC community relations department at (301) 877-5700.
