Southern Maryland Hospital Center Recruits Board-Certified Allergist and Immunologist to Asthma and Allergy Center
CLINTON, MD – Southern Maryland Hospital Center (SMHC) is proud to announce that it has recruited board-certified allergist and clinical immunologist Rosalyn Baker, M.D., M.H.S., to the Asthma and Allergy Center. A specialist in pediatric and adult allergy and immunology, Dr. Baker brings a wide range of clinical experience to SMHC. She has held positions at Maryland General Hospital and the University of Maryland/VA Medical Center Emergency Services Department. She received her medical training at the University of Miami School of Medicine and completed her residency in internal medicine at Cleveland/Case Western Reserve University Primary Affiliated Hospital.
In addition to her clinical experience, Dr. Baker has conducted multiple research studies in the fields of allergy and immunology. She has conducted research as a Clinical Research Fellow in Pediatric and Adult Allergy and Immunology at the National Institutes of Health and HPV Immunology as well as the Johns Hopkins Asthma and Allergy Center. She also holds a Master of Health Science degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health.

The mission of SMHC’s Asthma and Allergy Center is to improve patients’ quality of life by helping them manage their respiratory disease effectively. This outpatient center combines disease management and treatment with customized, in-depth education for respiratory disease sufferers and their families. The center’s outcomes testify to the approach’s success: last year, ER visits for asthma symptoms decreased from ninety-six to six. In addition, 72% of Asthma and Allergy Center patients reduced their disease’s level of severity.
Founded in 1977, Southern Maryland Hospital Center is a 358-bed full service hospital serving the Washington, D.C., metro and Southern Maryland areas.
